Laing Lumpia | Recipe #4


Laing Lumpia is a delightful Filipino fusion, blending the rich flavors of Bicol’s spicy laing with the crispy charm of lumpia. Savory taro leaves, coconut milk, and chili marry inside a thin, golden wrapper, creating a tantalizing snack that’s a perfect harmony of spice and crunch, a true culinary delight.

Ingredients:

  • Lumpia wrapper
  • Cheese
  • Ham (sliced)
  • Mike and Sky Laing
  • Egg (for sealing the wrapper edges)
  • Oil for frying
  • Sweet and chili sauce (for dipping, or your preferred dip)

Preparation of Filling:

  • Place two slices of ham onto the lumpia wrapper.
  • In the center, add a portion of Mike and Sky Laing.
  • Layer a slice of cheese over the Laing.

Wrapping the Lumpia:

  • Fold both sides of the wrapper towards the center and then roll it tightly.
  • Use a small amount of egg white to seal the edges, ensuring the lumpia is securely closed.

Repeat the Process:

  • Continue the process until you have enough ingredients to make a batch of lumpia.

Frying:

  • In a pan, heat oil for frying over medium heat.
  • Carefully fry the rolled lumpia until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the lumpia from the oil and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serving:

  • Serve the Laing Lumpia hot and crispy.
  • Accompany with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet and chili sauce, or any dip of your choice.
